Dur de se lever a 6h ce matin ! Le planning de conference est charge et commence a 7h par le breakfast des participants. Je les soupconne de nous faire venir plus tot afin de nous reveiller a coup de Starbucks ( dispo a volonte toute la journee) dans le but que le premier conferencier n'ai pas devant lui une assemblee trop assoupie :-)
Sinon j'ai commence a planifier la suite du voyage avec la certitude que je veux passer le plus de temps possible a New York. Je n'y ai passe que tres peu de temps a l'aller mais j'ai ressenti les memes sensations que celles percues lors de mes premiers pas a Londres. J'ai donc modifie la fin de mon parcours quebecois, il me reste a trouver une place en auberge de jeunesse ( et pour l'instant c'est pas gagné!!!),et je pourrais m'offrir 2 jours de plus a visiter Big Apple alors Croisez les doigts !!!


Quite difficult to wake up at 6 but no choice as I have a 30 min walk for reaching the venue of the conference where we are supposed to be at 7ish (definitly too early!). The good thing is that there's Starbucks Tea and Coffee available all day and you know how I am addicted to Starbucks :-)
I am planning the end of my trip and keep in mind that I want to spend as much time as possible in New York. I think I might be unfaithfull to London, can you believe it ? I have make change in my journey through Quebec and hope to be able to spend 2 more days in Big Apple. The main difficulty seems to find a room in an hostels as NY seems to be crowded next week-end so Fingers crossed !
Ok end of the lunch break (where I was supposed to socialize...oops!) ,back to the conference!

Resume/Abstract : Part 7

24/07/08 Premier jour de la conference et gala d'ouverture au Biodome. Journee pleine d'emotion ou j'ai pu realiser un reve qui me tenait a coeur depuis 1986...Je me souviens encore du magasine et de l'emerveillement face a ce chercheur qui dediait sa vie a l'etude des requins citrons. Ce jour la je m'etais dit qu'un jour je le rencontrerais et ce jour c'etait hier....

First day of the conference, on the evening we get a diner in a nice and unusual venue : the biodome of Montreal. Yesterday was full of emotion because I was able to meet a shark resercher who was my hero since I was 7 ! I still can't believe it!!! I remember perfectly the day I heard about his research work with lemon sharks, it was in 1987 and this day I promise to myself that I will met him and yesterday it happen!!!!!

It was kind of a shock (Andrea, you remember last year when I get the Violin's bow of Yann Tiersen?) and I was feeling as if my feet were on the ground and my mind somewhere in the ocean !

Apres le diner de gala, nous sommes allés nous promener dans MOntreal avant de rejoindre l'un des concerts gratuits des Francofolies
Requins+ reve realise+ musique live= une tres bonne journee !

After the event in the Biodome, we went for a night walk in the city before attending one of the free gigs given during the Francofolies.
Shark+dream+live music = definitly a good day !!!!

ET oui toujours pas de photos en ligne ! mon lecteur de carte SD n'a semble t'il pas du tout aime le voyage et mettre les textes en ligne sans les photos c'est vraiment pas pareil!

En attendant , fermez les yeux et imaginez : les couleurs du coucher de soleil sur le lac Ontario, le vacarme d'une nuit d'orage ou les eclairs se refletent a l'infini sur les surfaces vitrees des gratte-ciels, l'odeur de la nature apres la pluie et celle des pancakes au sirop d'erable, le spectacle des chutes du Niagara, le ronronnement du moteur d'une Dodge au volant de laquelle j'ai parcouru 1600km ces 36 dernieres heures...
Si vous y arrivez vous etes un peu la.....


Still no pictures coz' my SD reader is broken :-(, and I am quite sure you won't appreciate the story the same way without pictures!
Hopefully everything will be fixed soon.
If you want a preview just close your eyes and imagine:
the vibrant color of a sunset on the Ontario Lake, a night storm with thunder reflected by the skyscrappers, the smell of the earth after rain and the one of the pancakes with marple syrup, the Niagara Falls, the noise of a Dodge what I have rent for crossing the Ontario ( 1600 km in 36 hours ).
If you can pictures it you are definitly a little bit here, with me...
